In January 2018, 14-year-old Dolly Everett took her own life due to an extended period of bullying and cyberbullying.
Dolly, the former face of the Akubra Hat campaign drew a picture just days before her death with the words “Speak even if your voice shakes” written above. Her words have gone on to inspire hundreds of thousands of other people undergoing similar situations.
Dolly’s parents, Kate and Tick Everett, founded Dolly’s Dream, a foundation that provides prevention programs and response strategies through support and education for young people, families, schools and communities.

Kate and Tick were named the 2019 Australia’s Local Hero for their advocacy in the wake of their daughter’s death.
Each year, on May 8, Australians are asked to wear blue (Dolly’s favourite colour) for Do It For Dolly Day.
Presenting a united front to spark conversation, raise awareness and support young people, Australia went Blue to End Bullying on Do It For Dolly Day.

Residents from the Burrowa House joined the Boorowa Early Education Centre (BEE Centre) on Do It For Dolly Day to meet some fluffy, scaley and snuggly companions in memoriam of Dolly (an animal lover herself).
To raise funds, the BEE Centre held a raffle with an outdoor trolley, clean and pamper pack and kids pack up for grabs.
Dolly’s story has since touched hearts across the nation and her message stands strong eight years later: Speak even if your voice shakes.
