Boorowa Clay Target Clubs April 2026 Competition shoot was held on Anzac Day Saturday 25th of April.
The first event of the day was the 25 target Handicap event. Jenny Twarloh from Boorowa skinned the event with the only 25/25 to take first place. Four people scored 24/25, so had to shoot off for second and third places. Darren Churchill was the best in the shoot off and didn’t look like missing taking second place in the Handicap with a score of 24/25 (14/14) Paul Martin came third with a score of 24/25 (13/14) a wholly Boorowa affair with all three winners being from the Boorowa Club.
The second event of the day was the 75 target George Campbell Memorial consisting of 25 targets Double barrel, 25 targets Single barrel and 25 targets Point Score. George Campbell was a respected member of the Boorowa Club and the Memorial shoot is held each year in his memory with many Shooters from the local area and further afield attending it each year.
Tony O’Leary from Cowra skinned the event with a score of 119/125 winning the overall Sash. First in AA grade was Tracey Stringer from Boorowa 118/125 second in AA was Clive Foster from West Wyalong on 116/125. Giulio Serafin from Boorowa won A grade with a score of 118/125 (21/25). In second place was Phil Place from Majura Park 118/125 (20/25). B grade was won by Paul Martin from Boorowa on 114/125 with Darren Churchill coming second on 112/125. The battle for C grade was a real cliff hanger with two tied and both wanting the sash, after a marathon shoot off Michael Reid from Yass prevailed on 112/125 (45/50). Bradley Anderson from Boorowa came second with 112/125 (42/50).
The Veterans Sash went to Tony Barton from Boorowa 111/125, The Ladies Sash was won by Catherine Owen from Walmer 113/125, and the Junior Sash was won by Michael O’Leary from Cowra 106/125.
The overall High Gun was won by Giulio Serafin on 141/150 for the day. The ladies High Gun was won by Tracey Stringer with a 139/150. The Veterans High Gun was won by Phil Place with a 139/150. The Junior High Gun was won by Michael O’Leary with a 130/150.
Boorowa Clay Target Club’s next shoot will be The Commonwealth Night Deuville Doubles which was postponed from the original April time slot and will most likely be held as a stand-alone event on a Tuesday night in late May. The date and start times are yet to be finalised for this event.
