Boorowa Business Chamber held a Mother’s Day Mingle event on Thursday, May 7, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm throughout the Boorowa CBD. Locals and visitors alike enjoyed a vibrant mix of market stalls, late-night shopping and a welcoming community atmosphere.
Despite the cold and windy conditions, the Mother’s Day Mingle, which was held the Thursday before Mother’s Day still saw a strong turnout, with a great number of stalls set up throughout the Boorowa CBD and many locals braving the weather to come along and show their support.
A highlight of the afternoon was the kids’ craft table, where children decorated terracotta pots and selected a plant to take home as a gift for Mum. The Boorowa Business Chamber said thank you to Bunnings Young for generously providing these. Live music from Joe Duffy and band added to the atmosphere, creating a relaxed and enjoyable vibe across the afternoon.
Raffles were drawn on the day, with five very happy winners taking home prizes, and the combined raffles raised valuable funds to support future events.
Planning is already underway for the Christmas Jingle Mingle, with a date to be announced in the coming weeks.’
An organiser, Kim Rogers, said the weather may have had an effect on how many people came out, but it was still quite successful regardless.
“Considering the weather, it was very successful. It was probably the coldest, windiest day we’ve had for months, but still lots of people braved the cold and came out and enjoyed the afternoon,” she said.
“Hard to compare to the previous one, because we only did 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm this year, and people really packed up at 5:30 pm, whereas the Christmas one, we did 3 till 7, so you’ve essentially got nearly only half the amount of time.
“When you’re picking your day in January, you don’t know what the weather will be like. Every day last week was beautiful, then it started pouring.
“We still had around 20 stallholders turn up. The high school kids from the Central school had a cake stall, and they were very well supported, and I think those kids all enjoyed it. Everyone I talked to enjoyed it.
“The live music was fabulous. It was so good because you could hear it just about everywhere.”
