This weekend will see the last round of the regular season in senior cricket with some teams including the Boorowa Bottles facing the prospect of an early season exit.
The Bottles had the bye in the penultimate round last weekend and now need a win this Saturday to salvage something from the season. It’s been a different looking Boorowa team that’s lined up this year with some promising juniors coming through, along with a few new faces. With the strength of the junior teams clearly evident, Boorowa is assured of having at least one senior team in coming seasons.
Boorowa has a simple scenario this Saturday. Win and you will play a semi-final. Lose, and its most likely goodnight pending other results. They take on the Temora Bowling club at Boorowa which won’t be easy, but the Bottles have claimed a couple of big scalps against higher ranked teams.
Whilst the Bottles had the weekend off, the Under 13’s were back in action, narrowly going down by just six runs to the Ariah Park Redbacks.
The Redbacks posted 5/176 and in reply Boorowa fell just short at 8/170. Best of the Boorowa batting was Patrick Smith with 40 not out. He was well supported by Digby Merriman with 35 and Octavian Miller with 29. Jacob Halls chipped in with a handy 25. With the ball, Digby Merriman 1/13, Octavian Miller 1/7, Jacob Halls 1/11, and George Kelly 1/30 were the wicket takers.
It was a tough day for the Under 11’s teams, both going down but the games were competitive and all players can be proud of their efforts. The Gold went down to Cootamundra by 22 runs.
Cootamundra made an imposing total of 198 but the Golds put up a brave fight scoring 176. For Boorowa, the best of the batsmen was Thomas Scott with 22 and Patrick Corcoran 18 not out.
The Golds bowling saw Patrick Corcoran 3/10, Rosie Scott 1/10, Thomas Scott 2/9, and Charlotte Corcoran 1/15 all get amongst the wickets.
Across town, the Greens did their best to bring down the Young Warriors, but the Warriors prevailed by 36 runs. Young made 145 off its 20 overs and in reply Boorowa reached 109. For Boorowa, George Manion 22 and Lachlan Halls 16 were the pick of the batting whilst in the bowling department, Henry Burton-Taylor 1/3, Lachlan Halls 1/15, Maurice Corkhill 1-13, and Maxwell Burton-Taylor 1/12 were the wicket takers.
This weekend sees Boorowa Gold take on the Young Warriors at the Boorowa Recreation ground whilst the Greens travel across to Harden.
The under 13’s take on the Stars at the Boorowa Recreation ground leading into the big game later in the day between the Bottles and Temora Bowling Club. Bay 13 awaits your attendance to see a huge day of cricket.
