Celebrating their 136th show, the Boorowa Show is gearing up for another explosive year.
With some pre-show events already underway, Boorowa Show Society Inc secretary, Narelle Nixon, says she congratulates the early winners and thanks them for their participation in supporting the local community event.
Sponsored by Corkhill’s AG Services, Thompson’s Rural Supplies and JDI, the winner of the Commercial Cattle (held on Friday, 6 February), went to Roget and Lis Webster, ‘Tarengo’ Boorowa for their “beautiful Hereford cattle”.
CSIRO Boorowa won the Crop Competition with their wheat crop, later progressing (and winning) the southern region competition. The wheat crop then qualified for the NSW Dryland Wheat Final. Murray Dymock’s crop came in close second place.
“As always, Boorowa Show tries to provide a fun family day out with plenty of free children’s entertainment,” says Narelle.
“At 1.00pm, Randy’s Junkyard Action Show will be a one-hour long performance with bikes, animals and plenty of excitement.
“Join us in front of the grandstand for this show.”
Also available on the day will be free face painting for kids, jumping castles, an inflatable challenge, market stalls to look at and commercial exhibitors.
“Remember to visit the NSW Transport road safety display, where you can actually see the difference that slowing down when driving makes in a crash situation,” says Narelle.
Visitors can also see the yard dogs at work as they compete in their championship show.
Beside the dogs, the shearers will be getting down to business as they compete in their sports shear competition.
The pavilion will be full of alpacas and poultry, with plenty of junior judging and paradors available to see in the stud cattle section.
“There are merinos, Australian and British breed sheep to see and a pavilion full of horticulture, produce, fruits, vegetables, handicrafts, needlework, knitting, art and photography,” says Narelle.
Entries for the pavilion close at 5.00pm on Wednesday, 4 March, and Narelle urges everyone to look at the schedule online for more details.
