The Rye Park Car Boot Sale will be held at the Rec Grounds on November 1 from 8:00 am. It’s $10 per site and will have a barbeque with cold drinks and plenty of items for grabs on the day.
An organiser of the event, Lillian Southwell, said that although numbers have been dwindling, they are still going to hold one this year.
“We are having this one to see how we go. There will be things from plants, books, toys, household bits and pieces, among other things. It’s whatever people have got.”
Places like Rye Park benefit a lot from these events, as it not only keeps money flowing in town, clears out the garage, but it also provides the community a place to meet and catch up.
“Last year, there were only three or four stalls; a couple of years before, there were quite a few more. Basically, we don’t have any other income, except maybe a bit for hire if there’s a birthday party or a private function, but there’s really no other income.
“It’s to maintain it, keep it for the community and upgrade when we can. We’ve got a new outdoor kitchen and verandah, and things that we’ve got from a grant. It is basically any extra outside money that is great.
“If somebody did want to book a stall or something, they can contact me.
“Please come along and have a look, and if you haven’t got a stall, come and see what’s there for you to buy. It’s all helpful for the village.”
