The Boorowa Rovers celebrated their 2025 season last Friday night at the Boorowa Ex-Services Club, where the annual awards were presented. It was a fitting end to a season that saw some highs and lows, but overall was a successful year.
The Rovers went within a field goal of winning the minor premiership and fell just short of a grand final birth. But there was still much to celebrate with four players being selected in representative teams and several milestones achieved.
The following awards were presented.
Highest Try Scorer: Austin Power (30 tries)
Highest Point Scorer: Cooper Cross (190 Points- 7 Tries and 81 Goals).
Most Improved: James Farrell
Most Consistent: Hamish Scott
Best Defender: Hamish Scott
Coach’s Award: Tristan Mears
Rookie of the year: Charlie Fogg
Player of the Finals: Austin Power
Best Back: Will Fahey
Best Forward: Matt Canellis
Players Player: Nick Stephens and Will Fahey
2025 Coaches: Alex Stewart and Cooper Cross
Club Person of The Year: Danny Cassells
Best and Fairest: Nick Stephens
50 Game Milestone Tristan Mears, Hamish Scott, Cooper Cross, Matty Batt, and Will Sullivan
100 Game Milestone Trent Crawford and Blake Anderson
150 Games in Senior football – Alex Stewart
Four representative players were selected for the annual George Tooke v Woodbridge Cup games. They were Alex Stewart, Cooper Cross, Hamish Scott and Austin Power. Fullback Austin Power was also acknowledged as the highest try scorer in the NSW and ACT senior league.
Winners at the Canberra Rugby League Les McIntyre Awards Night
Cooper Cross took out three major awards, including:
• George Tooke, Highest Point Scorer
• George Tooke, Representative Player of the Year
• George Tooke Best and Fairest Austin Power won • George Tooke Highest Try Scorer as well as the NSW/ACT highest try scorer.
And so, another year has come and gone with all eyes now focused on the 2026 season. Stay tuned for further details, with preparations already underway and the Boorowa Rovers AGM to be held in the coming weeks. The support from the local community was amazing in 2025, and we hope to see you back in 2026 for another big season. Enjoy your summer.
