It’s been three years in the making, but the Binalong Boozers have finally won the Boorowa A- Grade Darts Premiership and have rightfully earned the Champions tag.
The win erases the pain of two previous failed attempts, and nothing was going to deny them this year. The Boozers showed no mercy to Muk Me Rams who themselves were making their first A Grade Grand Final appearance with Binalong winning 7-0.
The Boozers consisting of Kerian Hearne, Natalie Allen, Jack Best, Adam Best, Allan Pigram, and Matt Pankhurst were the best team all year and thoroughly deserved to be champions.
The B-Grade saw an absolute thriller played between the Dartie Scoundrels and the Ram with the result going down to the very last leg with each player on a double to win the title. It was James Green who threw the winning dart against Raymond Carr which signalled party time for the Scoundrels.
The Scoundrel’s winning team was James Green, Jacinta Klose, Jodie Pickard, and Kyal Barnes. In the C Grade, it was the Bush Turkeys who fittingly won on their home board with the Recreation Club hosting the event and supporting the Bush Turkeys all year.
The Bush Turkeys were Adrian March, Vanessa Hawley, Danny Fogg, and Dave Bromham. Their opponents, The Binalong Broken Arrows might not have won a title, but they do love a fun time and would probably be the most entertaining team in the competition. We hope to see them back next year.
It has been a sensational year of darts in Boorowa with at least forty players lining up every week. It has been entertaining to have two teams from Binalong which has really boosted the competition. Whilst the season may be done, stay tuned for the start of Thursday night social darts which will start soon and the date for the annual presentation night.
