The Boorowa branch of the United Hospital Auxiliary (UHA) held its Annual General Meeting in July, followed by its regular monthly meeting and a well-attended lunch at the Courthouse Hotel Elected office bearers for the 2026 financial year were confirmed: Jenny Carter will continue as President, Judy Ford takes on dual roles as Vice President and Publicity Officer, Mardie Kearns returns as Treasurer, and Deb Rheinberger will serve as Secretary Special guests Liane and Michael Preinbergs were welcomed at the gathering.
Liane, who is the State Secretary of NSW United Hospital Auxiliary and Regional Representative for the Riverina, shared the impressive results of recent fundraising efforts. Together, the combined Riverina UHA branches raised an incredible $651,629.21 in the past year.
Locally, the Boorowa UHA contributed $27,676.29 to vital equipment purchases for the Boorowa MPS (Multipurpose Service). These included A HoverMatt Lateral Transfer System ($10,976.79), An ARJO Head Raise device ($7,994.80), New televisions for aged care residents ($2,509.66), Two Aspire mobile air chairs with footrests ($6,055.04), Cold water dispenser rental ($140.00). These purchases have had a meaningful impact on the comfort, safety, and care of residents and patients.
The group is also looking ahead. The Boorowa Men’s Shed has been commissioned to build wheelchair-accessible picnic tables for the MPS grounds, enhancing outdoor accessibility for residents and visitors alike. Ideas for future fundraising events are currently being discussed, and community input is warmly welcomed. Most importantly, the Auxiliary is actively seeking new members.
“The UHA plays a vital role in supporting our local health services,” said President Jenny Carter. “We work alongside NSW Health and the Murrumbidgee Local Health District to make a real difference especially for those in residential aged care.”
