For the fourth year running, Flemings Boorowa will be hosting a special community event to support “Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea”, a nation-wide initiative organised by the Cancer Council to raise funds for cancer research and support services.
The event, set to take place on May 22 at 11:00am at the Flemings office, has become a beloved tradition in the town, attracting locals eager to come together for a good cause.
Amanda Serafin (pictured), a key organiser at Flemings, is once again rallying the community to join in the fight against cancer.
“We are excited to host this event for the fourth consecutive year,” Serafin said. “Last year, we raised around $2,000 for the Cancer Council, and each year it keeps growing.”

The morning tea offers an opportunity to contribute to a cause that touches the lives of many.
“It’s a gold coin donation, and it would be lovely for everyone to come along and show their support,” Serafin explained.
“Cancer impacts so many people, and this event is a chance for the community to come together, have a coffee, and connect while raising funds for cancer research.”
Flemings’ involvement in the event is personal, as many of the staff have been directly affected by cancer.
“Every single one of us at Flemings has had a family member either survive or pass away from cancer, or is currently undergoing treatment,” Serafin shared.
“Personally, my niece was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of four. Thankfully, she is now cancer free, but the impact on her and her family was profound. They had to move to Sydney for her treatment, which was a huge upheaval for them. I understand firsthand how cancer affects not just the individual, but the entire family.”

This personal connection to the cause fuels the team’s passion for the event each year.
“Every little bit of money we raise helps, and we’re proud to continue running this morning tea for the fourth year,” Serafin said.
The event has grown significantly over the past few years. “Every year, the morning tea gets bigger and bigger. More and more people are coming, and the response has been amazing,” Serafin added.
“The team here at Flemings even makes up leftover plates of food and delivers them to local businesses for a gold coin donation, which really adds up.”
For those who may not be able to attend the morning tea in person, there are plenty of ways to contribute. Serafin encourages people to visit the Flemings Boorowa office, scan the QR code displayed in the window, or donate through the Biggest Morning Tea website.

The Flemings donation page is also available on social media, making it easy for anyone to show their support.
“We really want to make this year bigger and better,” Serafin said. “So, we ask people to get behind us, spread the word, and share our page on social media. Every little bit helps, and we’d love to see even more people supporting the cause this year.”
The Flemings Boorowa team is hopeful that their morning tea will not only raise crucial funds for cancer research but also continue to bring the community together in a meaningful way.
“Come and say hi, have a coffee, and donate to a cause that truly matters,” Serafin said.
“Whether you can attend or not, every donation counts.”
The event is a fantastic way for the Boorowa community to come together, show support, and make a difference in the fight against cancer. Join Flemings Boorowa on May 22 for “Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea,” and help raise vital funds for cancer research and support.
