Deliver or die, that’s the message to Boorowa’s league teams this week as they prepare for the elimination finals on Sunday. Both the Rovers and Roverettes had stunning wins last weekend to wrap up semi finals spots.
The Rovers were clinical against the UC Stars winning 66-1 and in doing so leapfrogged Bungendore into fourth spot to secure a home final. Boorowa had the game sewn up at halftime leading 32-0 and went on with the job in the second half winning 66-1 ensuring the had a much better percentage than fifth placed Bungendore. The Boorowa centre combination of Wil Fahey and Nick Stephens was lethal, scoring five tries between them. UC Stars highlight was a magnificent field goal to at least break the duck, hence the unusual 66-1 scoreline.
The best and fairest points went to Matt Batt with three points for a powerhouse game. Charlie Sullivan got two points after scoring a game high 22 points and the veteran Murray Armour who has made a welcome return in recent weeks, got one point. Players Player was Charlie Sullivan.

In other games on the weekend, Googong 22 beat Snowy River Bears 18, Crookwell 18 beat North Canberra 16 and Harden 34 beat Bungendore 28.
The George Tooke Shield (GTS) ladder looked this way: Harden 28, North Canberra 22, Crookwell 22, Boorowa 14, Bungendore 14, Snowy River Bears 4, Uc Stars 4, Googong 4.
Meanwhile the Roverettes continue to defy the odds running out comfortable winners over the Stars by 32-4. Eliza Taylor set the field alight with four tries for the Roverettes and was just too quick for the Stars defenders. Mackella Pye did some damage as well with two tries.

The best and fairest points went to Mackella Pye with three points. Eliza Taylor picked up two points for her blistering attacking runs and Kaitlin Reid got a well-deserved one point. Kaitlin also got the Players Player award.
In other games last weekend: North Canberra 16 beat Crookwell 0, Snowy River Bears 30 beat Googong 0 and Harden 34 beat Bungendore 0.
The League tag final ladder looked this way: Harden 27, North Canberra 24, Crookwell16. Bungendore 14, Boorowa 14, Snowy River Bears 10, UC Stars 6, Googong 0.
The games in the GTS this week will see the elimination final, Boorowa v Bungendore (2.30 Sunday at Boorowa). The winner to advance to the minor semi-final next week. The loser is out.
The qualifying final will see North Canberra V Crookwell at Kaleen on Saturday. The winner books a date with Harden whilst the loser will get another chance.
Both these games will be tight. Boorowa defeated Bungendore 28-24 just two weeks ago at home and provided they play mistake free football, the home ground advantage should see the Rovers advance. Their backline is on fire and provided they can match the mobile Tigers forward pack, the backs should do the rest. Boorowa will be keen to make amends for last years semis when they went out in straight defeats.
North Canberra and Crookwell will meet for the second time in eight days following a Crookwell win by 18-16 last Saturday. At home, North Canberra may turn the tables on the Green Devils. Crookwell have been flying a little under the radar this season and on their day can beat anyone. A Crookwell victory would not surprise.
Tips: Boorowa by 6. North Canberra by 2.
In the league tag, Boorowa should get the victory provided they don’t have injuries. Without a bench for most games, the loss of anymore players could be fatal. They beat Bungendore at this venue two weeks ago and should do the job in front of their home crowd. In the qualifying final, North Canberra will start favourites and on their home patch, will be too strong.
Tips: Boorowa by 8. North Canberra by 10.
The stage is set for a massive weekend of league. It’s Super Sunday in Boorowa this weekend with both the Boorowa teams looking to advance to next week.
