The trip to Bungendore is always a tough one for the senior league teams and last weekend was no exception with both Boorowa sides suffering defeat at the hands of the Bungendore Tigers. The Rovers went down 30-22 to the Premiers whilst the Roverettes again showed plenty of heart in a 22-6 defeat by the Tigerettes.
Whilst they may have went down, the Rovers showed plenty of character in their eight-point loss. They trailed 24-6 at halftime before mounting a serious challenge in the second half. It was any one’s game right up to the final bell when the Tigers leading by just six, received a late penalty that sealed the game. As always, the clash of these two teams wasn’t without controversy, but Boorowa just had a bit too much work to do in the second stanza. They can take a lot out of this match though and despite having only one win from four starts, they are well and truly alive in this competition.
The best and fairest three points for the Rovers went to Alex Stewart who relishes the big games with the Tigers forwards being his target. Cooper Cross also gave the Bungendore big boppers plenty of headaches and he got two points, whilst Josh Noakes powered on all day getting one point.
Players Player went to the consistent Joe Prosper.
Bungendore 30 beat Boorowa 22: Charlie Fogg 2, Matt Canellis, Riley Powderly Tries, Cooper Cross 3 Goals. In other GTS games last weekend, North Canberra 50 beat Googong 0, Crookwell 32 beat Snowy River Bears 8 and Harden 51 beat The UC Stars 12.
The league tag saw the Roverettes put up a brave fight against the Tigers going down by 22-6. Boorowa had just ten players with no bench and put up a mighty effort. The side is playing well but with no reserves, it’s a big ask for the side to be competitive for the full game.
The Best and Fairest points for Boorowa went to Emma Craig three points. Ella Cross got two points and Imogen Pye one point. Players player went to Rebecca Richmond for an outstanding game.

In other league tag games on the weekend, Crookwell 38 beat Snowy River Bears 12, North Canberra Bears 50 beat Googong 0 and Harden 56 beat the UC Stars 4.
This Saturday sees the representative round and as such there are no club games played. There are five matches to be played on the day with the highlight being The George Tooke representative team up against the Wood bridge Cup side. Boorowa will field three representatives in the George Tooke team with Matt Canellis, Cooper Cross, and Nic Stephens all being selected on the back of some good form. Matt and Cooper have been devasting in the forwards whilst Nic has been electric in the Rovers backline. All three will play significant roles this weekend in defence of the title. The action starts at 10 am at Grenfell with the main game due to kick off at 3.20pm.
The following week will see the Boorowa teams head to Googong with the next home on May 30 against the Snowy River Bears. Theres alot of off field activity in the coming weeks including Ladies Day on June 20. Mark it in your diary and keep an eye out for more major events happening soon.
