The ladies High Gun for the day was won by Tracey Stringer (pictured above), with a score of 94/100. Tracey has also just become the International Clay Target Shooting Federation (ICTSF) Ladies World Champion after competing at the World Championships in New Zealand recently.
The Boorowa Gun Clubs March 2026 competition shoot was held on Saturday 28th March. A great roll up of 49 Competitors was on hand to enjoy a fine Autumn Day with clear conditions and only a light breeze.
Three events were on offer on the day. Many competitors were treating the program as a warm-up to the Australian Trap Nationals to be held in Wagga in just a couple of weeks.
The first event of the day was the 25 target Handicap event. Three shooters scored 25/25. Glenn Barton, Greg Coleman and Peter Johnston had to shoot off with Glenn coming first, Greg second and Peter in third place.
The second event of the day was the 50 target Tara Park Double barrel Championship. Eight shooters scored 50/50 and the shoot offs which were held at the end of the day, lasted a considerable amount of time with the initial 50 targets of the shoot off shot as Double Barrel then changing to Point Score so as to get a result on the day.
The overall winner who will have his name on the Tara Park Shield was Greg Coleman from Sydney with a score of 50/50 (96/96). First in AA grade was Aaron Jones (Boorowa) with a score of 50/50 (95/96). Second in AA was Sam Waugh 50/50 (74/75). Caleb Stringer was the best in A grade with 50/50 (34/35), second in A was Matt Gerstenberg 48/50 (42/42). The B grade winner was Phil Place 48/50 (1/1) and second in B grade was Darryl Reed 48/50 (0/1). Nick Haridemos was the winner in C grade with a score of 49/50, second in C grade was Ian Crisp with a score of 47/50.
The Third event of the day was the 25 target Single Barrel Cash Divide three shooters shared the AA grade prize money shooting the possible 25/25, Clint Goodwin, Aaron Jones and Tom Sheridan. Caleb Stringer was the best in A grade and took the prize money with a score of 24/25.
Phil Place in B grade, also the only winner with a score of 24/25. Sharon MacDonald took the C grade prize money with a score of 22/25.
The overall High Gun for the day was shot off between Greg Coleman from Sydney 98/100 (6/6) and Tom Sheridan from Parkes 98/100 (5/6) with Greg just edging out Tom to take the High Gun for the day.
The ladies’ High Gun for the day was won by Tracey Stringer with a score of 94/100. Tracey has also just become the International Clay Target Shooting Federation (ICTSF) Ladies World Champion after competing at the World Championships in New Zealand recently. The ICTSF World Championships are held every two years by a member country. Tracey has represented Australia in previous World Championships, having won Silver and Bronze in previous years. This year marks her most successful overseas competition, and we congratulate and acknowledge her dedication and achievements.
The Veterans High Gun was won by Phil Place from Majura Park Gun Club with a score of 93/100 (6/6). The Junior High Gun was won by Michael O’Leary from Cowra with a score of 85/100.
A final shout-out and thank you to our wonderful club members for all that they do. A special thanks to Rex and Sandra Murphy, Giulio Serafin, Justin & Alison Smith, Patti Boulding, Jenny Twarloh, Lucy Churchill, Chris Oehm & Geoffrey Mason, month after month and year after year give up many hours each month running practice days, getting the grounds and clubhouse ready for the shoots, plus many other behind the scenes jobs that make our competitions run seamlessly.
A big thank you also to our newer club members, who are always willing to lend a hand. It is that sense of community and volunteering that singles out Boorowa as a wonderful community. We are open for practice on Tuesday nights at the clubhouse shooting grounds located at 283 Ballyryan Road, Boorowa.
Tuesday evenings are a perfect time to drop in and find out more about this exciting and engaging sport that is open to all ages and abilities from 12 years and up. Why not come along and find out what it is all about? All Ages and abilities are welcome at the clubhouse; all people aged 12 years and over may participate. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian whilst at the club and Photo ID and some paperwork must be completed for adults if you intend to participate, or if you are bringing a minor to the club with the intention to participate. All you will need to bring is some good flat soled shoes, preferably with a leather upper. If you need glasses for long-distance vision, you also need them. Dress for outside conditions. The club is located on Ballyryan Road, Boorowa, approximately 2km past the showgrounds, look for the Red Range flags, and pop in and say hello.
