Real Stories, Real Impact: Boorowa Set to Host Powerful Mental Health Event

Boorowa locals are in for a moving and inspiring afternoon this weekend on Sunday the 15th as the town prepares to host a special community mental health event designed to connect, up-lift, and educate.

Featuring heartfelt personal stories, live music, and expert resources, the event will take place this weekend and promises to leave a lasting impact on all who attend. Tickets are available now through the website ‘timba.org.au’ or via the ‘This Is My Brave Australia INC” Facebook.

With mental health support more important than ever in regional communities, the event made possible through the efforts of Boorowa Rotary and local sponsors is expected to draw a strong crowd. Attendees will hear from a line up of speakers who have spent the past few months preparing to share their personal journeys through mental health challenges.

“We have our speakers who have been rehearsing and getting their stories together they’re all really keen to get up and share,” said Tim Daly, event organiser.

“It’s taken a lot of courage, but the confidence they’ve gained is incredible.”

Local leadership is also getting behind the day, with Boorowa Mayor Brian Ingram attending to officially open the event. Representatives from Rotary the major partner behind the initiative will also speak about the importance of raising mental health awareness and why events like this matter in towns like Boorowa.

A special musical performance by local singer-songwriter Jane Dee will add to the atmosphere, bringing both reflection and celebration to the afternoon.

The heart of the event lies in its stories. From farmers to teachers, everyday people from the region will take the stage to speak about their mental health journeys.

One of the featured speakers, Daryl, is a local farmer whose story of resilience through drought is sure to resonate deeply with the Boorowa crowd. “It depends on where we are as to what stories we get,” the organiser explained. “But even though the details may differ, people can always relate to the emotions and experiences. These are real stories from real people.”

The process of sharing stories, it turns out, is just as healing for the storytellers as it is for the audience. Many participants have grown in confidence since rehearsals began several months ago, and for some, the process has been transformative.

“It goes both ways,” said Tim. “The audience might see themselves in these stories and feel encouraged or less alone. But the speakers also benefit they begin to un-derstand their own jour-ney better. It’s powerful.”

In addition to the stories on stage, attendees will have the opportunity to explore stalls from local mental health organisations, offering information, resources, and one-on-one conversations. For those seeking support or simply curious about what’s available in the region, it’s a valuable part of the day.

The event wouldn’t be possible without the support of Boorowa Rotary and sponsors like Mainline Smart Dyno Technology, AWI Consulting, and the dedicated efforts of individuals like Lyn Dixon and Angie Hart. With so much heart and community involvement behind it, this is an event Boorowa residents won’t want to miss. It’s more than just an afternoon out it’s a chance to come together, to listen, to reflect, and to grow stronger as a community.
