The much-anticipated reopening of Marsden Street Medical Practice is now visibly on the horizon, with a recent social media update providing fresh insight into the preparations underway behind the scenes.
In a Facebook post shared earlier this week, the team at Marsden Street offered a transparent and heartfelt update to the Boorowa community. The message, titled “Behind the Scenes Update,” detailed the ongoing efforts being made to ready the clinic after the previous practice at the same location abruptly closed its doors on November 29, 2024.
“While it may seem quiet from the outside, our team is fully immersed in making sure everything is perfect for you,” the post read. “From finalising our space to ensuring we have the best resources and technology, every detail is being meticulously planned.”
The update reassured patients that the team is committed to delivering high-quality care and emphasised the strong collaboration with the building’s owners to ensure the facility is fully functional and up to standard when doors reopen.
Of significant note in the update was the ongoing issue of missing patient medical records, a concern that has lingered since the original practice closed. “We are working tirelessly to ascertain missing records,” the post explained.
“The team has been in extensive talks with our local MP and higher government parties to rectify this issue. If records cannot be verified, our top priority will be to ensure a seamless process for obtaining the patient’s history from all parties.”
This comes after earlier statements indicated some records may have been improperly discarded by a former practitioner. However, Marsden Street Medical Practice has reassured patients that they are exploring every possible avenue to recover or replace this information, including working with Boorowa Street Medical Practice in Young, where some patient files had been transferred.
The re-opening of the practice is expected to ease pressure on Boorowa Hospital Medical Centre and restore vital medical services to the region.
With the practice planning to hire new administrative staff and undergoing physical renovations, the final steps appear to be falling into place.
Dr. Wick, who has previously served communities in Murrumbateman, Young, and the wider Yass region, will be leading the new practice.
