Next Saturday the 28th of June, the Boorowa Goldies are set to host their annual Ladies Day, an event that blends community spirit, sport, and support for two meaningful causes Burrowa House and the Nathan Stapleton Foundation.
Starting from 1:00 PM at the Goldies’ home ground, the day promises more than just exciting rugby. A dedicated VIP marquee for female guests will feature exclusive raffles, a live auction, and custom-designed jerseys up for bid all part of the effort to raise funds and awareness for local charities.
Goldies secretary and event organiser Phoebe McGrath has played a central role in coordinating the day, working behind the scenes to make it a success.
It’s about more than just footy it’s an opportunity to give back to the community and recognise the people who support us week in, week out,” she said.
The club has been actively reaching out to local businesses for donations and support, with all proceeds set to benefit causes that are close to the hearts of many in Boorowa.
“My focus has been on bringing people together and rallying support for organisations doing great work in our community,” McGrath added. Ladies Day has become a much-loved fixture in the Goldies’ calendar, shining a spotlight on the important role women play in and around the sport. From players and volunteers to lifelong supporters, the event offers a chance to say thank you while enjoying a day of rugby and connection. The action on the field will see the Goldilocks (the women’s team) take on the visiting Young Yabbettes, with the Goldies men’s side also facing off against their counterparts, the Yabbies in what promises to be a competitive double-header.
McGrath, while not a player herself, is confident both teams are ready to put on a strong performance. “We’d love to get a win over Young at home it would be a great way to cap off the day,” she said with a smile.
