Flemings Boorowa is once again gearing up to host one of the town’s most cherished fundraising events Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on Wednesday, May 22 at 11am.
Held at the Flemings office in the heart of Boorowa, the event is part of a nationwide initiative led by the Cancer Council, with all proceeds supporting vital cancer research and support services.
Now in its fourth consecutive year, the Flemings hosted morning tea has become more than just a fundraiser; it’s a symbol of Boorowa’s tight-knit spirit and shared commitment to a cause that touches countless lives.
Amanda Serafin, a passionate organiser from the Flemings team, says the event is close to the hearts of many.
“We’re so proud to host this event again,” she said.
“Last year, we raised around $2,000, and it’s been amazing to watch the support grow each year.”
The event will include a delicious morning tea spread, friendly conversation, and a chance to give back. Entry is by gold coin donation, and everyone is encouraged to come along whether to stay for a cuppa or just to drop in and donate.
“It’s about more than just raising money,” Serafin said.
“It’s about bringing the community together and showing support to those affected by cancer. The cause is deeply personal for many at Flemings.
“Every one of us at the office has been touched by cancer in some way,” Serafin shared.
“My niece was diagnosed with leukemia at just four years old. She’s now cancer-free, thankfully, but her journey—and the upheaval it caused for her family—is something I’ll never forget.”
That shared experience fuels the dedication behind the event. The Flemings team even delivers leftover treats to local businesses for a small donation, turning every cupcake and biscuit into an opportunity to give.
For those who can’t attend in person, donations can be made online. A QR code will be displayed in the Flemings office window, and the team’s donation page is available via social media and the official Biggest Morning Tea website.
“We’d love to make this year the biggest yet,” Serafin said.
