Local ponies owned by Liz and Matilda Gregory from Boorowa had a remarkable showing at the Canberra Royal Show last week, securing numerous wins and impressive placements.
Among their successful ponies was the much loved Shetland pony, Korawyn Show N Tell, affectionately known as Buzz. This talented gelding earned a third place in the Led Pinto under 10.2hh, first in the Ridden Pinto under 10.2hh, Reserve Champion Ridden Pinto, sixth in the Led Shetland Gelding, and third in the Ridden Shetland Gelding classes. Liz and Matilda’s handsome grey Welsh Pony, Ripple Brook Jitterbug, known as Bugsy, also stood out at the show. Bugsy earned several accolades, including seventh in the Leading Rein Show Hunter Pony, third in the Ridden Welsh A Pony, first in the Child’s Show Hunter Pony under 12hh, second in the Novice Show Hunter Pony under 11.2hh, first in the Open Show Hunter Pony under 11.2hh, and Reserve Champion Small Show Hunter Pony. Both Buzz and Bugsy were expertly ridden by the talented Indy Gardiner, who also had success with her ponies throughout the event.
The ponies were trained by the skilled and patient Emma Rayner of Emerald Equestrian. Liz expressed her pride in the ponies’ performance. “I’m so proud of Buzz and Bugsy for putting their best foot forward in the ring,” Liz said. “They brought home ribbons in all their classes.” She also extended her gratitude to those who helped make the success possible. “A big thank you to Indy for piloting both ponies so beautifully,” Liz said. “And Emma, we can’t thank you enough for the time and dedication you’ve put into your team of beautiful horses. We truly appreciate everything you do for Matilda and her ponies.”
Liz also took a moment to thank the Royal Canberra Show committee, sponsors, and volunteers. “Without you, we wouldn’t have our favourite Royal Show,” she said. Bugsy’s standout performance, including a win in the Child’s Show Hunter Pony under 12hh and Reserve Champion Small Show Hunter Pony, earned him a spot in the prestigious Show Horse Council of Australasia Grand National. There, he will compete against winners from states and territories across Australia and New Zealand.
Following their successful week at Canberra, Buzz and Matilda Boorowa Show last weekend.
A huge congratulations goes out to Liz, Matilda, Indy, and Emma for their outstanding success at the Canberra Show.
