The annual Rodeo and Gymkhana rolled into Reids Flat on Saturday, with hundreds of eager competitors and spectators attending the all-day event.
With various events and activities such as the Iron Man and whip cracking competitions culminating in the evening bull rides and live music, there was something for everyone on the day. There were thrills and spills, duck bills, and back flips, as the members of the bovine entertainment crew made sure as many cowboys hit the dust as possible.
There were hoofs and horns and crowds who adored as the cowboys held on for life around the old style arena while being ably protected by the clowns who saved them at every opportunity.
Gymkhanas, essentially small equestrian and rodeo events, have been a part of country life for decades, with the Reids Flat event being the biggest day on the local calendar for the small village each year.
The event offerred $3000 in prize money and prizes and attraced competitors from across the region.
