With just 12 weeks to go, anticipation is building across the Hilltops as Boorowa gets ready to welcome back one of the region’s favourite annual events, the Irish Woolfest. Held over the October long weekend (Friday, October 3 to Sunday, October 5), the Woolfest is a much-loved celebration of Boorowa’s Irish heritage and proud wool-growing history. For locals, it’s a chance to showcase what makes the town unique, while coming together to celebrate community spirit.
The highlight, as always, will be the Running of the Sheep, a fun and quirky spectacle that sees dozens of woolly Merinos charge down the Main Street, guided by sheepdogs and enthusiastic volunteers. It’s a true crowd-pleaser that locals and visitors alike look forward to each year. But the Woolfest is about more than just sheep. The weekend will be filled with entertainment, food, music, and community events for all ages. There’ll be a lively street parade, market stalls featuring local crafts and produce, food trucks, and plenty of live Irish music to keep the energy high throughout the weekend.
The Woolfest is as much for the locals as it is for tourists. This event is really about celebrating what makes Boorowa special, from its farming heritage, the wool industry, and the strong community that keeps everything going. It’s a great opportunity for locals to come out, support each other, and enjoy everything our town has to offer.
