Beloved Australian gardening personality Costa Georgiadis made a surprise visit to Boorowa over the weekend, leaving a trail of smiles and admiration as he explored the town and connected with locals.

Best known as the enthusiastic and environmentally passionate host of ABC’s Gardening Australia, Costa is recognised across the country for his iconic beard, energetic spirit, and dedication to sustainability and community. With a background in landscape architecture and a life steeped in horticulture his grandparents were both market gardeners Costa’s love for the land runs deep.

Over the weekend, Costa was seen strolling peacefully by the Boorowa River, taking in the crisp country air and the serene landscape.

Later, he shared a heartfelt Facebook post praising the beauty of the Boorowa countryside and the warmth of the community. Locals were thrilled by the visit, with many describing it as a highlight for the town.

The Boorowa Community Op Shop was one of his stops, where Costa met with volunteers and took time to appreciate their work.

“Our shop was delighted to receive a celebrity visitor this week,” the Op Shop shared online.

Costa Georgiadis is shown here with volunteers Maria, Margo, and Jenny.  We wish you a pleasant visit to our charming town, Costa!”

Costa’s visit coincided with the 26th anniversary of Boorowa Landcare’s partnership with North Sydney Council Bushcare, a long-standing environmental collaboration that Costa was eager to support.

His appearance at the Top Pub (Boorowa Hotel) was another highlight, where staff and patrons enjoyed his down-to-earth conversation and love for the land.

“What a wonderful guest to welcome to the Top Pub,” the hotel shared.

“Costa is certainly Mr Green-fingers, and he even poured a pretty darn good Reschs! No doubt he’s had practice with Mythos beer back in Greece.”

Known for his genuine connection with communities big and small, Costa’s visit was more than just a celebrity drop-in. It served as a reminder of the importance of grassroots environmental work, community spirit, and living in harmony with the land. Whether it was sharing gardening tips, sipping a local brew, or simply enjoying a riverside walk, Costa Georgiadis’ time in Boorowa was warmly received and deeply appreciated by all who crossed his path.
