Ten gymnasts from the Boorowa Gymnastics Club travelled to Orange recently to compete in a competition hosted by the Central West Gymsports Club.
For six of the girls, this was their first competition away from home, and they rose to the occasion with impressive performances.
Competing in the Australian Levels Program (ALP) at Level 1 were Sophee Hewitt, Isabelle Haines, Annabelle Collins, Amelia Murray, Mahalia Manion, and Bonnie Molloy, all of whom demonstrated outstanding skill and determination.
Three other gymnasts from Boorowa, Lyla Coker, Mackenzie Quinn, and Maya Hewitt, competed at Level 2. They too showcased their talents on the Vault, Floor, Bars, and Beam, with many of them securing gold or silver medals on individual apparatus. Their performances were a testament to the hard work they have put into their training over the past few months.
Ivy Corkhill, who competed in the Level 4 Futures League, also had an exceptional performance, earning a gold medal on Vault.
The Futures League offers a different scoring system compared to the ALP, where points are added to a start score of 10 rather than being deducted. Ivy’s gold on Vault was a clear highlight for the Boorowa Gymnastics team.
Approximately 100 gymnasts from various clubs competed across a range of gymnastic disciplines, making for an exciting and competitive event.

The Boorowa gymnasts have been preparing for this competition for weeks, with some travelling long distances to train. Amelia Murray, for instance, travels from Harden, while Lyla, Mackenzie, and Bonnie make the journey from Young to train with their Boorowa teammates every Saturday.
Carol Harpley, Head Coach of the Boorowa Gymnastics Club, expressed her pride in the girls’ achievements.
“It was a fantastic experience for the team,” said Harpley. “For some of them, it was their first time competing away from home, and they handled it so well. We couldn’t be more proud of how they performed. They all worked really hard leading up to this event, and it showed in their results.”
Harpley also highlighted the dedication of the gymnasts who travel from surrounding areas to train.
“Amelia, Lyla, Mackenzie, and Bonnie put in a lot of extra effort to join our training sessions, and it’s really paying off. It’s not always easy to make the trip, but their commitment to the sport is inspiring.”
The competition in Orange was a huge success for Boorowa Gymnastics, and it has given the young athletes invaluable experience.
“This is exactly the kind of event that helps our gymnasts grow and learn,” Harpley added. “Competing at this level, alongside so many talented athletes, will only help them improve. We’re looking forward to the next challenge, and I’m excited to see what they can achieve in the future.”
With their continued hard work and dedication, the Boorowa Gymnastics Club is poised for even greater success in upcoming competitions. The team’s achievements in Orange show just how much potential these young athletes have, and the support from their families and coaches continues to fuel their passion for the sport.
